title: American students are looking outward again, but not for the reasons you think
description: "For decades, the United States has been the gravitational centre of global higher education. It has attracted more international students than any other destination and has an outbound study abroad (semester), culture many countries envy. But something is changing.\n\nNew data from Voyage’s 2026 Source Market Spotlight suggests the US is producing a different kind of outbound student. These are not simply traditional study abroad students looking for a semester of travel, culture and academic experience. Increasingly, they are looking overseas because something about life at home is making them look elsewhere.\n\nhttps://thekoalanews.com/american-students-are-looking-outward-again-but-not-for-the-reasons-you-think/"
